Community Care
To fulfill its corporate social responsibility, CSC has continued to take action to provide assistance and care to the nearby communities for their development and sponsor charitable activities in Siaogang for a long period of time. CSC upholds the concept that what is taken from the society must be returned to it, and sincerely takes action to care about and contribute to the society, communities, and disadvantaged groups from the aspects of environment protection, community care, and charity. Its contributions are listed as follows:
- It sponsors various social activities for the communities and associations in Siaogang.
- It offers gifts of money during the Chinese New Year, Dragon Boat Festival, and Mid-Autumn Festival to assist low-income households in Hsiao Kang District
- According to the CSC regulations for recruitment, the applicants whose household registration is in Siaogang and meet the requirements, will be given bonus points in the written tests.
- It provides scholarships for meritorious students and tuition assistance to students from disadvantaged families in Siaogang.
- It invites disadvantaged groups to participate in CSC's activities irregularly in the hope that more people can show love and care to the disadvantaged groups.
- Elementary school students in Siaogang, especially those from disadvantaged families, are invited to participate in summer camps to promote community harmony. Graduating elementary school students in Siaogang are also invited to participate in the Steel Journey Activity to have a tour of CSC.
- CSC has assisted Kaohsiung Municipal Siaogang Senior High School and Chung Shan Junior High School in greening in their schools to mitigate global warming.
- It sponsors equipment and facility upgrades in junior high and elementary schools in Siaogang to enhance the students' learning efficiency.
- The ceremony for recognition and promotion of filial piety and granting of meritorious scholarships is held to celebrate Mother's Day.
- CSC representatives visit district authorities, district chiefs, local gentry, and opinion leaders in Siaogang irregularly to obtain community suggestions for CSC in a timely manner, bring relevant information for discussion, and then respond to the issues or make improvement plans to promote good interactions and demonstrate the care CSC has for the community.

The Ceremony for Recognition of Filial Piety and Granting of Meritorious Scholarships
To celebrate Mother's Day and promote filial piety as well as local education and culture, CSC holds the Ceremony for Recognition of Filial Piety and Granting of Meritorious Scholarships every year. Students who are recommended by junior high schools and elementary schools and their parents as well as representatives of the winners of the scholarships are commended. In addition, featured clubs from schools in Siaogang are invited to perform at the ceremony, which provides a platform for students to perform publicly and helps to promote arts and cultural literacy in the district.
The Steel Journey Activity Held by CSC
To enable graduating elementary school students to preliminarily know what a wholly-integrated steel mill is and what steel-related industries are, CSC holds the Steel Journey Activity every year. Graduating elementary school students from 13 different schools in Siaogang are always invited to visit CSC. The activity which is both lively and fun starts with showing a popular science film about steelmaking. Elaborate Q&A games for the "Steel Elementary School" activity have been designed; a company tour is also arranged. Knowledge that is originally hard to grasp becomes fun puzzle games for the students. In addition, themes such as circular economy and environmental education are integrated into the activity, which enables the students to understand CSC's ongoing efforts in promoting green energy, carbon reduction, and environmental sustainability.
The King of Wisdom Summer Camp Held by CSC
To enrich the summer vacation of the elementary school children in Siaogang, CSC offers diversified learning activities for their physical and mental development. In collaboration with China Steel Chemical Corporation (CSCC), a subsidiary of the CSC Group, it holds the King of Wisdom Summer Camp every year. The main curriculum, depending on the characteristics of the school hosting the activity, aims to enhance the students' knowledge on popular science and artistic literacy. In addition, the CSC Educational Foundation holds environmental education programs with well-designed interactive teaching aids, which are diversified and lively, for the students so that they can understand the importance of environmental protection.
The Establishment of a Quarantine Observation Area for the Kaohsiung Municipal Siaogang Hospital
Due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic around the world, CSC and United Steel Engineering & Construction Corporation jointly assisted the Kaohsiung Municipal Siaogang Hospital to build modular houses acting as a quarantine observation area to ensure the safety of medical personnel involved in the collections and inspections in the hospital as well as the people undergoing inspections and medical treatment there. As the inspections could be completed more efficiently outside the hospital, the overall pandemic prevention standards could be improved. Both medical personnel and patients could be protected. The aforementioned endeavor demonstrated CSC's fulfillment of its corporate social responsibility.
