The strategies and action plans for energy saving in CSC includes process energy saving, utilities energy saving, office energy saving, energy service team and five years projects.

| To improve energy performance in each process, from 2007 a task force led by top manager with experts in CSC had been setup, which regularly go to each department to discuss about the energy performance and to promote improvement in energy saving. Several projects have been completed like heat recovery in blast furnace hot stove, thick-phase PCI system, coal moisture control system for coke oven, etc. |

| Measures include increasing the efficiency of pumps, adopting natural lighting, variable speed control for fans, and energy saving in pressurized air system, cooling towers and air conditioning systems, etc. |

| Compare to 2008, the administration area of CSC saved 11% electricity in 2009 and 25% electricity in 2010. With this performance CSC received reward from Kaohsiung city on Nov. 3rd, 2010. |

| CSC had set up an energy service team for its group enterprises and customers in 2007. The scope of the service includes lighting, air conditioning, pressurized air systems, variable speed control, cooling water systems, pump efficiency improvement, cogeneration, heating furnace, power load and demand management, etc. |

| The first 5 years energy saving project finished in 2010 and achieved 237,000 kilo liter oil equivalent (KLOE) energy saving, 593,000 tons of CO2 (tCO2e) emission reduction. The second 5 years project started from 2011 with the target of saving 240,000 KLOE and reducing 600,000 tCO2e. |
