Biodiversity

The greening area of CSC's Siaogang Mill is approximately 44.99 hectares, with a greening rate of 8.54%. The green plants contribute to an annual reduction of about 6,397 metric tons of CO₂. Although CSC is not located in an ecological protection area or its vicinity, it has made extensive efforts in environmental greening and landscaping over the years. A survey identified a total of 286 tree species; native and rare Taiwanese trees, such as Barringtonia racemosa and diospyros ferrea, have been planted to create a diverse plant environment.

Within the mill, comprehensive and multi-layered greening goals have been pursued to enrich the ecology and forest-like structures. Potted plants as well as greening on rooftops and walls of buildings have been utilized to enhance the three-dimensional greening effect and increase the overall visual effect of greening and landscaping.

The headquarters of CSC has been awarded the highest level of the Diamond-rated Green Building certification. During the initial construction and design phase of the architecture, the element of planting native Taiwanese plants to attract birds, butterflies, and various insects was incorporated. A mixed layout of tall and low-level dense forest-like structures was utilized to create a three-dimensional greening scheme. Additionally, eco-friendly design elements, such as ecological sloped walls with porous habitats and random stone piles, were employed. Organic horticulture and eco-friendly soil activation methods were also applied to maximize the greening area and optimize the outcome of landscaping.
