The core planning concept for the construction of the China Steel Building focuses on indicators such as "ecology, energy saving, waste reduction, health, and environmental synergy," and is designed towards aspects such as "site greening for water retention, low building coverage, high open space, high-rise green buildings, seismic steel materials, double-layer curtain walls for airflow control, shading, radiation resistance, noise reduction, and energy saving." It also incorporates goals such as "LED projection lights, solar energy, reclaimed water resources, MBR membrane treatment, waste reduction, air quality monitoring, and intelligent advanced building automation," planning to be a friendly high-rise green building.
The main function of the China Steel Group Clubhouse is to support and meet the living needs of the users of the headquarters building. The architectural and engineering design of the building is undertaken by Horizon Design, achieving a delicate balance between the image and volume design in relation to the headquarters building. The clubhouse has been recognized by a jury composed of industry, government, and academia, and was awarded two major prizes in the 5th Kaohsiung Green Building Awards organized by the Kaohsiung City Government in 2016: "Commercial Architecture Category Award" and "Three-dimensional Greening Category Award."
