Green Steel Products and Green Revenues

CSC actively invests in the R&D of green steel products and has achieved outstanding results in the market. By using molten metal technology in electric furnaces, CSC was able to surpass the 30% scrap limit for basic oxygen furnaces. From RC12, RC20, and RC40 to the latest RC60, CSC has increased the proportion of scrap to 60% and obtained the UL2809 Recycled Content Validation. According to research by the World Steel Association, recycling one tonne of steel scrap can reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 1.5 tonnes. By 2030, CSC anticipates that increased scrap utilization will lead to a reduction of over 400,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions compared to 2021.

In 2024, CSC obtained a total of five UL 2809 certifications under the Environmental Claim Validation Procedure (ECVP) for Recycled Content developed by UL Solutions. These certifications covered Hot-Rolled Coils RC1 2 (with a scrap content of 12% and above), Cold-Rolled Coils RC12, Zinc Coated Steel Coils RC12, Zinc Coated Steel Coils RC20 (with a scrap content of 20% and above) and Zinc Coated Steel Coils RC60 (with a scrap content of 60% and above). Providing customers with high-performance and sustainable steel options to support the realization of a green supply chain.

In 2024, five high-recycled-content steel grades were certified (Hot-Rolled Coils, Cold-Rolled Coils RC12, Zinc Coated Steel Coils RC12/RC20/RC60)

This standard allows steel manufacturers to verify the specific recycled steel content in their products through independent third-party validation. By obtaining UL certification marks, companies can enhance their market credibility while meeting the growing demand from consumers and customers for sustainable development.
