  • There were no environmental violation cases in 2022 and 2023. In 2021, there was 1 environmental violation case with 1.35 million TWD fines. In 2024, there was 1 environmental violation case with 0.3 million TWD fines, this case cost not more than 10,000 USD. The descriptions of these two cases are as follows

    • In 2021, there was 1 environmental violation case with 1.35 million TWD fines.
      1. Case: particle pollution at #2 steel mill
      2. Cause: dust collector malfunction
      3. Improvement:
        1. to require workers to improve operational control and maintenance management, install monitor to detect abnormal events, and inspect plant equipment irregularly.
        2. to assign dedicated personnel to conduct inspections on equipment at its plants from time to time and implement “self-management and control” at on-site units in a bid to reduce the number of violation notices.
    • In 2024, there was 1 environmental violation case with 0.3 million TWD fines.
      1. Case: particle pollution at #2 Coke Oven
      2. Cause: An employee accidentally touched the valve handle, causing excessive gas release and resulting in incomplete combustion.
      3. Improvement:
        1. Remove the valve handle that could be mistakenly touched to prevent accidental activation.
        2. Review maintenance procedures and enhance staff training.

  • The fines imposed by the competent authorities in 2021 and 2024 have been paid in full.
