Engineering Research Center (ERC)

CSC adopts an open innovation approach to R&D. For the purpose of effectively aligning the R&D capabilities of academic, research, and corporate organizations with the needs of industrial development, CSC has gradually shifted its collaboration with external parties from project collaboration with individual professors in the past to strategic, long-term partnerships with the right universities and professors. With the intention of utilizing cluster-based professional capabilities, CSC has set up engineering research centers (ERCs) in collaboration with various academic, research, and corporate organizations to conduct basic research with depth and breadth in a systematic manner. In 2021, CSC and NKUST established the Fastener Engineering R&D Center aimed at assisting in the transformation of the local fastener industry and upgrading their products from general fasteners to high-value fasteners for automotive and aerospace applications while leveraging academic, industrial, and research resources. At present, CSC is running seven ERCs on an ongoing basis.

Besides establishing engineering R&D centers with academia and research institutes, CSC also operates a wide range of innovation cooperation platforms based on industry characteristics and needs. Using our years of success in hand tool improvement projects, we jointly established the Hand Tools R&D Testing Center in 2019 together with Taiwan Hand Tool Manufacturers' Association, Metal Industries Research & Development Centre, and Corporate Synergy Development Center. The center not only provides a wide range of testing services, but also meets the needs of improvement projects implemented by different companies. The center is able to operate independently and aims to reach the research scale of 15 million TWD from the government, CSC, and the center.
