A low-carbon economy is a global trend. The green industry and green growth brought forth by the low-carbon economy will be the future international competition focuses. CSC is an upstream manufacturer in the steel-consuming industry; therefore, the development and expansion of the supply for green products have become a vital phase in terms of the promotion of the green supply chain. The CSC Group has made an effort to contribute to environmental protection by actively promoting green processes and green industries; therefore, it established White Biotech Corporation (WBC) in November, 2012. WBC applies anaerobic fermentation technology, developed by Langzatech Corporation in the U.S.A., to produce ethanol from converter gases and related chemical derivatives. The production technology was verified in WBC’s pilot plant as of the end of 2014, and it would be used as the basis for investment in commercial production plants. The results of the technological verification were better than those in the targeted plan and ahead of international standards. The planning for the construction of a commercial ethanol plant was initiated in 2015.

To develop new business investment frameworks and strengthen its operational competitiveness, White Biotech Corporation has simultaneously launched business planning for industrial gases and rare gases, gas monitoring and particulate matter (PM2.5) processing technology, demonstrative applications and development of SOFC, green energy businesses related to water technology development, energy conservation, and reduction of carbon emissions in addition to the investment planning for the commercial ethanol plant.
