Biomass energy is an important alternative to fossil fuel for its renewable, storable and abundant characteristics and is considered to be carbon neutral. The application of biomass would be an effective strategy for energy-intensive industries such as steel mills to mitigate carbon emissions and to adapt the influence of the possible issues such as carbon tax and greenhouse gas emission permits.
Among the waste-to-energy technologies, China Steel Corporation (CSC) has focused on developing the torrefaction and fast pyrolysis technologies. The products, including the bio coal and the bio oil are intended to apply in the boiler, diesel engine and the combustor. In the future, the waste of biomass would be selected as the feedstock for biofuel production. We hope to construct a green manufacturing process by maximizing the value of the waste.
