To enrich the summer vacation of the elementary school children in Siaogang, CSC offered diversified learning activities for their physical and mental development. In collaboration with China Steel Chemical Corporation (CSCC), a subsidiary ofthe CSC Group,it held the 2018 King of Wisdom Summer Camp in two sessions for 100 students between July 2 and July 6in Kaohsiung Municipal Ming Yi Junior High School. Thestudentswere immersed in music and arts so as to cultivatetheir appreciation of artsand cultureby experiencing them. The activities includedinteractive learning sessions between the students and the TLBE Brass and the wind orchestra from Min-yi Junior High School, a musical from a string orchestra, anda performing arts session that combined dance and drama. Furthermore, a DIY woodworking session was arrangedto allow the students to make pinball machines in the old days based on the concept of maker-thinking so that they could learn to experience and solve problems on their own. In particular, the CSC Educational Foundation held an environmental educationprogram to help the students to know more about the properties of blast furnace slag and its applications in cement, road paving, marine engineering, etc. from the perspective of resource reutilization regarding reduction of natural sandstone mining and carbon emissions as well as the importance of environmental protection. They also learned that there was no waste in ourenvironment, but only misplaced resources.
