To produce environment-friendly products is the social responsibility of each enterprise and the only way to sustainable development. CSC will continue its efforts in "Environmental Management" and "Sustainable Development" while playing a role as an "industrial material supplier". Its focus will be on the following:

A corporate culture with "balanced weight on environmental protection and production" will be created. "Environmental Management" and "Industrial Safety and Hygiene" systems will be enhanced, and an environment diagnosis will be made periodically. An "Integrated Environmental Information System" will be gradually established to accurately update the latest information in regard to environmental protection.

CSC will continue to develop and introduce technologies and facilities in preventing on-site environmental pollution. The major tasks are continual improvement in sintering and coking processes, proper management and discharge of sudden and violent rainfalls, and surveillance and protection of soil and underground water.

In recycling and proper care of process residues, CSC will promote the internal use of steel making and de-sulfurization slag. The effective application of these slags as useful engineering materials will also be largely promoted.
In greenhouse gas discharges, CSC will try to enhance its effectiveness with greater scope and flexibility. The short-term measures include promotion of the capacity of O2-enrichment in the #2 blast furnace, implementation of energy conservation technologies, and energy optimization.

CSC will continue its efforts in Environmental Management and Cleaner Production on the current basis. With these efforts, CSC looks forward to a smooth transformation and thus plays a key role in" the Cleaner Production System and Green Supply-and-Demand Chain" in the 21st century.
