General Information

The Technical Information Center of China Steel Corporation was established in 1972. Now part of the Technology Division, this special information center is located within the China Steel plant area.

At first, this center only performed the role of providing information regarding the iron and steel industry for all CSC employees' information needs. From 1991, the center continuously extended its service to subsidiaries of China Steel affiliated companies and some companies in the upstream and downstream steel industries.

The center's core collections include monographs, periodicals, technical reports, standards & specifications, patents and online database covering metallurgy, materials science, manufacture technology, energy, environmental protection and business-oriented subjects, etc.

Recently, the center has begun to collect certain publications from Mainland China to further enhance the technology and marketing resource base.

Access of information

The center is an open shelf information center. Users have free access to the printed publications, and the in-house bibliographic records can also be retrieved from their workplace through the company network.

	Introduction：
	The two tasks assigned to the Technology Incubation & Promotion Section (T42) at CSC are: (1) To produce specialty chemicals, sliding gate sands, tundish auto-gunning materials, etc. for the CSC Group and its downstream customers who can benefit by reducing their purchasing costs and adding new values to their steel and aluminum products. (2) To make innovations by both incubating competitive products, and as a means of establishing new businesses in the diversification of the CSC Group.
	Organization and Functions ：
	Production Unit (T421) : The purpose of establishing this unit is to produce steel and aluminum specialty chemicals for the CSC Group and to produce metalworking fluids for CSC's downstream customers. The main products of steel and aluminum specialty chemicals are: Electrocleaning fluids( DG series ) Electromagnetic sheet coatings (EC series) Pickling inhibitors (EH2A) Black stain protectors (EH30) R-coatings ( RC11) Temper rolling oil (RL11) Cold rolling rust preventives (RP79( DOS)、RP93) The main products of metalworking fluids are: Soluble oil (CE series) Cutting oil (CN series) Semi-synthetic cutting & grinding fluids (CS7C) Forming fluids (DN series) Soluble drawing compounds (DS4A) Rust preventives (RP series)
	Technology Unit (T422) Technology research, information collection & analyses for products CSC has not produced in its domestic market. To develop the technology for commercial volume production, integrated production, quality control systems of new materials, and to test and promote the markets for new materials. To develop quality control systems and to provide technical service and product improvement for specialty chemicals. To produce sliding gate sands, tundish auto-gunning materials for CSC's steel mill.
